Shell Helix Ultra is the FIRST motor oil made from natural gas.

It uses PurePlus Technology, a revolutionary process that delivers crystal-clear base oil made from natural gas with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil – making it 99.5% pure, based on paraffinic hydrocarbon content and significantly higher level of iso-paraffins compared to typical Group II and III base oils.

Shell Helix Ultra Professional AG 5W-30 for gasoline and diesel engines is approved against the technically challenging General Motors engine oil specification GMW16177 (dexos 2). It is formulated specifically for the dexos 2 specification, which combines parts of API SN, ACEA C3 and in-house General Motors gasoline and diesel engine tests, for use as a global service fill oil.
